Vs. 2 “…now therefore arise and go….”
What are we waiting for? Are we continuing to put off that act of obedience that He is asking of us? What is the one thing right now that you know God is focusing in on or as I call it, ‘pointing His flashlight’ and asking you to do? Arise, go and take that step of obedience. For you see, as we follow His leading step by step and let His flashlight lead us each day and as we respond to His promptings in this way, we begin to live just as He wants us to live.
Vs. 5 “…as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee or forsake thee.
Vs. 6 “Be strong and of a good courage.”
That phrase is stated four times in this chapter. Our path of obedience may seem impossible. It may be a life long habit or a life of fear and worry. Today is the day, don’t waste another hour. You can be strong, you can have good courage. We have the same God that Moses had and that same strength and power that he provided for him.
Vs. 7-9 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law….turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and might to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage: be not afraid neither be thou dismayed for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Do you see that it is not a request? He commands us to be strong and of a good courage. He knows how deeply we will fail and live miserably if we don’t have strength and courage. We can’t vary off the course, turning to the right and the left. We must stay in that line of light from His leading ‘flashlight.’ He will take us step by step, one lesson at a time, one act of obedience at a time. Verse eight reminds me once again of that wonderful passage, Psalm 1:2 “But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law doth he meditate day and night.” That is what will keep us strong, focused and very aware when He is shining that ‘flashlight’ for us to act upon. Are we ready now? Where is the light shining and what is He focusing on right now in your heart? Let’s roll!!!! Let’s arise and go!
